Two quiet students rocked up in our offices on a Monday morning looking wearily lost, overwhelmed and pleasantly surprised by our Google-esque vibe and endless snacks baskets, scattered around the studio. The sound of clicking keyboards and a little AC/DC in the background to get the blood moving at the start of the week was just what the doctor prescribed.
MOV has built a name for itself through ‘The School of MOV’ programmes, which were catered for new-grads and young professionals – individuals who needed that real-life experience and curveballs Clients oh-so-love to throw every now and again. We have always preached the importance of internships, and for the rare occasion, we had opened our doors to two very special high-schoolers; Mr. Emile Karam and Ms. Anastasia Lashkul.
Our internships are successful because of one special ingredient. We don’t sugar-coat anything for anyone no matter their age; life isn’t always that easy, and if you really want to do somebody a favor, don’t protect them from tougher realities, let them flourish, and let them get their hands dirty.
AISC is, and always has been a small tightly-knit school, and being a graduate of the school myself, know all too well that it is made up of misfits; creative minds and massively capable young adults who are given a palette to become phenomenal Global citizens.
Both candidates were assigned the simple task to find a problem in their everyday lives, to come up with a solution through a service or product, to conduct market research, and then bring it to life by thinking outside of the box, being creative, concise and punchy enough to be convincing and sell their product on presentation day.
Anastasia, who currently lives in Larnaca, had the problem of transportation to-and-from Nicosia, where she had put together a ‘Car Pool’ service and application to solve this issue for people such as herself.. Emile on the other hand, a fitness enthusiast, found an innovative way around those uncomfortable protective knee socks, with a product who wittily named ‘Agile Wrap’
We had the chance to catch up with both Emile and Anastasia after their short time here at MOV, where they were asked to answer a few questions about their time:

Emile:
1. What was your favorite part of spending time at MOV?
My favorite part of spending time at MOV was the priceless knowledge and tips that I got from Stephanos and the team.
2. What three things did you learn, and take away with you?
– Be concise and to-the-point when speaking
– Ask the people who have done what you want to do as many questions as possible to reach your goals more effectively
– Do not be afraid to go against the crowd and try new methods of doing things
3. If you had more time, what would you have liked to further develop?
I would have liked to develop my company idea further and explore different options. I would also like to have asked more questions about the day to day operations of running a Marketing agency.
4. One of your tasks was to identify a problem, and come up with an innovative solution paired with market research, how to get to market! Give us your elevator pitch!
“Have you ever heard people complaining about their knee problems? We provide a time efficient, breathable, and lightweight knee-wrap to keep your knees safe while moving! Agile Wrap – squats, made knee-sy”
5. In a short sentence – how was your experience here at MOV, and would you advise other classmates to follow suit to find work/internship placements?
My time at MOV made me realize how much knowledge there is to gain in the business world and the amount of focus and creativity that is required to succeed in the marketing industry. I would advise anyone with a passion for business to join MOV, as it will open up your eyes to what is possible!

1. What was your favorite part of spending time at MOV?
My favorite part of spending time at MOV was probably the briefings that we had with Mr.Stephanos, because that’s when we got one on one feedback and also got answers to our questions.
2. What three things did you learn, and take away with you?
– You’re not allowed to have an opinion. Let the data speak.
– Be open minded and think outside of the box.
If I had more time at MOV, I would develop my app further, and since I actually like the idea -I believe it can succeed. I would develop more in what is needed in order to launch the app, and work on promotional ideas.
My experience at MOV was the best experience I ever had at any office! Full of important information, life lessons, fun, great team in the office and an amazing atmosphere. And of course I would advise teens my age to have a MOV experience; it’s something that will help you rise in your many ideas and make you brainstorm, work hard, and feel fully satisfied because of it.
As with all good things which come to an end, and although Anastasia and Emile’s time was short, on behalf of everybody who had the pleasure of conversing and helping them out, I personally hope that they leave with a different and positive perspective, with good memories and hopefully a nugget of knowledge in their pocket too.
Massive congratulations to the both of you where I look forward to being your first customer when your projects launch!
